Complete a Photography Project in Just One Day

Why a Photo Project?

I’ve written about the advantages of doing a project in photography before. In 2021, while back in London to take care of some family business I decided to do a photography project. My “Glimpses Of London” series was the result. I tried to capture the iconic places of the city, without making them the primary subject of the photograph.

The project was inspirational, but more importantly it helped me to get out of the photographic rut that I’d been in for a long time.

The projects can be extremely beneficial for any photographer. You can change your direction, take more focused shots, and boost your creativity. Also, they can be good for your mental well-being.

You may think that a project involving photography requires some planning. I do not believe that this is the case all of the time. I will show you today why using two case studies.

You’ll Need Some Luck

Every time you leave the house, you won’t be able shoot a project. Lady Luck will play a role. It is important to be creatively inspired, have luck with the weather and light, and be inspired by the location. These three factors can combine to create a project.

Keystone is the other element you will need. The keystone is the thread that ties the project together. This could be a mood or a feeling. You might find it in a particular color, architectural detail or even a local person. You will need to identify the keystone early, whatever it is.
