Lessons Learned from Using Film Cameras

My first camera did not have a power source. There was not a single double-A. I could shoot for the entire day without having to use a USB charger. If I had enough film, then yes, that would be all day. Film that would require at most 36 exposures. If you took a chance, it could take up to 38. Films that cost money for the film, to develop and to print.

Digital Photography Is Amazing, But…

Modern digital photography is incredible. Although it’s not cheap, as many people thought at the beginning of the millennium. We can create incredible images straight from the camera. Often, we don’t even pay attention to the settings. This makes me sad.

The very thing that makes digital photography so attractive is also its Achilles’ heel. Instantaneous. To me, this can diminish its value a bit. We take more photos but cherish less.

Film photography has some very useful elements that can help us in this digital age. Today, I’d like to look at a few of them.
