Lightroom is a long-time favorite, but did you know that it can also catalog video? You probably have more than one video clip, even if you’re not a hybrid photographer. It could be family videos, or you may have taken them because video was better than a photograph for the situation.
You might not be a video enthusiast and you may store those video clips in a dusty, forgotten hard drive. Why spend money on expensive editing software when you don’t plan to create full-length films? Why spend more money on cataloging software when you only shoot a few clips per month?
Adobe Lightroom is the perfect solution for this.
How to import video into Lightroom
Importing video in Lightroom is just as simple as importing photos. Open the import dialog, choose the folder from which to import videos, and then decide whether you want to Add, Move, or Copy them into your catalog.
Add, as with stills imports the video but keeps it in its original folder. Move will move clips from their original folder into Lightroom’s default catalogue folder. Copy will keep the original files inside the folder, but make copies within the Lightroom folder.
